From diagnosis, to the brush, to becoming a voice — the path that led here.
When ME arrived, everything changed. The life I had planned narrowed to the size of a room, then a bed. In that stillness, art and writing became a way to hold on — and, slowly, a way to speak.
Acrylics became a daily practice: soft, patient, forgiving of the days when I had almost nothing to give. Each small painting turned a hard day into something hopeful — proof I was still here, still making.
The notes and essays grew. What began as a way to make sense of my own symptoms became something larger — a way to hold the truth of ME steady enough to hand to someone else.
I began sharing the reality of ME through art, writing, and community — for everyone who has felt invisible inside this illness, and for the people who love them.
The book arrives: a testimony, a reference, and a call to action — and the next chapter of a story still being written.
“Every hard day became a brushstroke, and every brushstroke became a reason to keep going.”— Wendy Boutilier
